Oxford International’s UK English Language division has been selected by the British Council, the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) and English UK to be part of the PRELIM (Partnered Remote Language Improvement) project.
In partnership
The PRELIM project is a mentoring programme to develop and improve the delivery of remote language learning courses. We have partnered with the Society of Pakistan English Language Teaching (SPELT), a membership organisation for teachers in Pakistan with over 6000 teachers. This week our academic and development leadership teams had an initial meeting with SPELT to introduce the teams, scope the project and develop our partnership.
The project
Over the coming months, our Teacher Training department and SPELT will be piloting a mentoring programme with selected groups of teachers across central Asia, to investigate applications that can be used to access remote learning in areas with limited access to bandwidth or technology. We will be investigating solutions to negate the technological barriers faced by remote communities to improve teaching and learning outcomes for remote students.
The findings of our investigation will be published in March 2021 and aim to inform a wider-scale project in the Spring.
We are very excited to be part of the PRELIM project and to be partnered with SPELT and their network of teachers. This project continues to strengthen our digital division and improve the delivery of our programmes while showcasing our teaching expertise on a global platform.
